NetSuite Sync vs Fivetran
Fivetran is a general-purpose pipeline priced on how much your data changes. NetSuite Sync moves one ERP into BI at a flat monthly rate, through NetSuite's own REST API. Which is right depends less on features than on your row churn and how many sources you have.
One is priced on how much your data changes. The other is priced per month. That is the decision.
The short answer. Before the detail.
- Use NetSuite Sync if NetSuite is the source that matters and the destination is Power BI, SQL Server or Snowflake. Flat monthly rate whatever the volume, native SuiteQL REST so no ODBC licence, and pre-built Power BI templates for the finance reports people actually open.
- Use Fivetran if NetSuite is one source among many and you want a single vendor moving all of them into a warehouse. Hundreds of connectors, consumption pricing on Monthly Active Rows, calculated per connector.
- The number that decides it is your monthly row churn. Consumption pricing rewards low, predictable change and punishes spiky months. A flat rate does the opposite. Measure before you choose, not after.

The three things that actually differ. The rest is noise.
Pricing: the model matters more than the rate
Fivetran prices on Monthly Active Rows: the rows added, changed or deleted in your destination in a month. Since March 2025 that is calculated per connector rather than across your whole account, and since January 2026 deletes count towards it.
We are not going to print a number for what that costs you, because it depends on data we have never seen. Third-party blogs will happily quote you an annual total for Fivetran. Those figures are not Fivetran's and not checkable, and a comparison page that repeated them would deserve to be distrusted.
What we can say plainly: NetSuite Sync charges a flat monthly rate that does not move with your volume. That is worse than consumption pricing if your row churn is genuinely low, and better if it is high, spiky, or simply something finance would rather not have to forecast.
The ODBC licence question
This is the difference most buyers find late. Fivetran's NetSuite connector is called NetSuite SuiteAnalytics, and its setup guide requires the SuiteAnalytics Connect Service to be enabled on your NetSuite account, with access to the NetSuite2.com data source.
SuiteAnalytics Connect is an Oracle NetSuite licence, bought from NetSuite and not from Fivetran, so it sits outside whatever your pipeline vendor quotes you. NetSuite Sync reads through NetSuite's native SuiteQL REST API instead, which is the specific reason it does not need that licence.
Breadth against depth
Fivetran connects hundreds of sources. If you are pulling NetSuite alongside Salesforce, Stripe, a product database and your ad platforms into one warehouse, one vendor and one bill for all of it is a genuine advantage, and NetSuite Sync simply does not compete for that job.
NetSuite Sync does one ERP into BI. The payoff for that narrowness is the pre-built Power BI content: P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, AR aging, budget versus actuals. A general-purpose pipeline lands you tables. Finance still needs somebody to turn those tables into the reports they open on a Monday, and that work is where NetSuite projects usually overrun.
When we would tell you to use Fivetran
When NetSuite is one of many sources, when you already run Fivetran and adding a connector is cheaper than adding a vendor, or when you have measured your row churn and it is low enough that consumption pricing wins outright.
We would rather say that here than have you find it out in month three. If you tell us what you are moving and how often, we will do the comparison with your numbers, including when the answer is not us.
Questions buyers actually ask
Is NetSuite Sync cheaper than Fivetran?
It depends entirely on how much your NetSuite data changes. Fivetran prices on Monthly Active Rows, calculated per connector; NetSuite Sync charges a flat monthly rate whatever the volume. Low and predictable churn favours consumption pricing. High or spiky churn favours a flat rate. Measure your own row churn before choosing either, and be wary of anyone, including us, who quotes you a comparison without it.
Does Fivetran's NetSuite connector need SuiteAnalytics Connect?
Yes. Fivetran's connector is named NetSuite SuiteAnalytics and its own setup guide states the SuiteAnalytics Connect Service must be enabled, with access to the NetSuite2.com data source. That licence comes from Oracle NetSuite, not from Fivetran. NetSuite Sync reads through the native SuiteQL REST API and does not require it.
When is Fivetran the better choice?
When NetSuite is one source among many. Fivetran is a general-purpose pipeline with hundreds of connectors, and consolidating everything through one vendor is a real advantage at that scale. NetSuite Sync does one ERP into BI. If that is your whole problem, a general-purpose platform is more machinery than you need; if it is not, it is the right tool.
Can we use both?
Yes, and some organisations do: Fivetran for the wider warehouse, NetSuite Sync for the finance reporting layer, because the pre-built Power BI templates are the part finance teams actually use. Both write into destinations you own.
